Three new Location-Based Needs have been added to the Caltrans District 4 Pedestrian Plan. These needs can now be viewed in the Plan’s Story Map and Explore Map, and are listed below:

  1. Oakland-Alameda Estuary Crossing, shown as a corridor need along SR 260 (Posey/Webster Tubes),
  2. West Span Bay Bridge Path, shown as a corridor need along I-80 (Bay Bridge) between Yerba Buena Island and downtown San Francisco, and
  3. A new crossing need on State Route 17 in Santa Clara County, near the Alma Bridge Road intersection.

These needs were unintentionally left off of the original draft of the Plan due to unique geographic conditions that prevented them from being analyzed. Thanks to additional stakeholder coordination and analysis by Caltrans staff, we determined that they can be included, and we have added them into the Plan’s StoryMap and ExploreMap data. We thank our agency and advocate partners for their assistance.
